We had so much fun. Not only was it for a good cause (you can never lose when helping the sick kids,) but the music was great (thank you Divine Brown and Blue Rodeo) and everyone we met loved our pies. How can you not have fun when everyone you talk to is raving about how awesome you are?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, we know that our pies kick intergalactic butt, but what was also pretty cool was how many people loved our little pastry swirls (or pets des soeurs, for those who weren’t educated by nuns). Nothing like baked goods to bring back the memories of childhood, and our baked goods have all the nostalgic taste you could ever need. She asked me this casually, as if she had not just handed me the most awesomely, nay, awe-inspiringly delicious meringue cookie ever devised, conceived or otherwise baked by woman. As a baker, I am no stranger to sweet deliciousness, but these little guys are something else entirely. The Hershey-Kiss shaped dollops of melt in your mouth tastiness are filled with wee little bits of chocolate and pecans. If Helen of Troy was a cookie – this is the one she would be. And they sold like hotcakes. Tiny, sweet hotcakes of pure rich-but-light goodness. I sold some to a woman, and ten minutes later she was back claiming I’d sold her an empty box. She took two more and threatened to bill me for the new pants she was going to have to buy. This, my friends, is success. I’m not sure how she does it, but I am a thankful woman that Natalia can manipulate such an ersatz substance as meringue. You will be too, when you try them. Which you should. As soon as possible. Like today. /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;BONATARTE APPLE PIE, 5 INCHES, $4.95, AND 10 INCHES, $14.95&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I was sent this apple pie by none other than Montreal radio personality Aaron Rand, who is connected with the Bonatarte Gourmet Pie company. After my review of supermarket apple pies, Rand was willing to put his pie up to the test, and I'm happy to say it came out as my favourite in the commercial category. Made using only natural ingredients (no preservatives, no stabilizers, no fillers), this pie impressed most for its chunky cinnamon apple filling and flaky pastry. Bonatarte’s pie sisters, Tanya and Natalia Adams, who are part owners as well as Bonatarte's bakers, will be adding more diabetic-friendly selections to their menu that meet the nutritional criteria of less than 6 grams of fat and less than 30 grams of carbohydrates per serving.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bonatarte encourages their clients to adopt healthier eating habits that also taste great.
